Date of release: May 17, 2021
Paducah Parks & Recreation is delaying the opening of the Noble Park Pool. The pool was scheduled to open June 5. However, not unlike other businesses and industries, the Parks & Recreation Department is experiencing a staffing shortage. At this time, the opening of the Noble Park Pool is delayed until June 19.
To fully staff and operate the Noble Park Pool, the Parks & Recreation Department requires a minimum of 11 pool attendants and 15 lifeguards. Currently, the Department has fewer than half of the required staff members moving through the hiring process.
Parks & Recreation Department Director Amie Clark said, “Working at the Noble Park Pool is a fun, summertime working experience. I encourage those interested in being a pool attendant or lifeguard to apply. If we don’t receive more applications before this Friday, we may have to further delay the opening of the pool until July.”
Another problem facing the Noble Park Pool is the widespread shortage of chlorine, a critical chemical component for the pool’s operation.
