The City of Paducah invites the community to attend the ribbon cutting and official opening of the Noble Park Dog Parks on Tuesday, May 14 at 1:30 p.m.
The new parks are located adjacent to the Anna Baumer Building and Shelter 17 behind the amphitheatre. The dog parks are open seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. in the summer season (April – October) and from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. in the winter season (November – March).
The project includes a new access road and the construction of two dog parks that are partitioned based upon the weight of a dog with 30 pounds as the general dividing weight. The dog parks are similar in size to the existing ones at Stuart Nelson Park and include water fountains, fencing with vestibule entries, shelters, lighting, pet waste receptacles, and paved accessible parking areas. Portable restrooms are onsite.
The small enclosure will not open until later this year while grass is being established. The large enclosure is temporarily separated into two spaces to provide space for large breeds and small breeds during this transition.
Mayor George Bray said, “From the very beginning when discussions began with McCracken County about using Stuart Nelson Park for the Paducah Sports Park, we knew that relocating and upgrading the dog park was a critical process. Not only do citizens of Paducah and McCracken County use the dog parks but also visitors from far and wide utilize this service. We also knew that making sure that there wasn’t a period of time when the dog parks were closed was a high community priority. I want to thank Parks and Recreation Director Amie Clark and her team for relentlessly pushing this project forward even with weather setbacks to make sure that our citizens and our furry friends have a place to socialize, exercise, and play.”
Director of Parks and Recreation Amie Clark said, “I encourage our local dog-lovers to visit the dog parks at Noble Park. After looking at various possible locations for the dog parks to be constructed, this location in Noble Park was selected due to the similar environment that it provides in comparison to the dog parks currently located in Stuart Nelson Park. This area is quiet and serene, providing lots of shade and space for dogs to run that is away from the busier areas in Noble Park.”
In November 2023, the Paducah Board of Commissioners approved a contract with Evrard Company for the project to construct new dog parks in Noble Park as part of a relocation project due to the future construction of the Paducah Sports Park which will use Stuart Nelson Park.
The Stuart Nelson Dog Parks will close in the near future to prepare for the construction of the Paducah Sports Park.
McCracken County is funding a portion of the dog park relocation project based upon the interlocal agreement approved in 2022.
